Today is Saturday and I had a very exciting and productive day. I forgot how much I love crafts and working on projects. Last night after I posted on Facebook and two of my Blogs, including this one, I went onto Ebay to do a little shopping. I have a favorite ebay store that I buy supplies from. It was fun to search through the store pages to find all the little goodies that I need for the crafts I have in my mind to create.
When I got up this morning I had a cup of coffee and then I was off to my craft area. Like I said yesterday, I've already packed up my craft area because we are getting ready to move. So, I had to begin my morning with more UN-packing. Insane, I know. But I was on a roll and didn't want to be put off by something as insignificant as having all my craft supplies packed for a move. Duh!
I started out with something easy, as I did yesterday, and started cutting out more of my lavender rice bags. They go together pretty easy, I double sew all the edges so they aren't compromised even if they are used over and over again.
You know, something I love about my rice bags is that I have one that I use all the time for my neck. It's over a year old and when I heat it up in the microwave it still has the moist heat and the scent of lavender. It's so relaxing. I have a larger one that I've had for 3 or 4 years and even though the lavender scent isn't as strong it still lingers. And, the way I put them together, the end can be opened to have the rice re-freshed with additional lavender. Voila, you have a brand new rice bag that will ease your aches and pains away.
My true intention was to take photo's as I went along to show you how I make my various craft projects. I dropped the ball today, sorry about that. I was so excited to get down to my craft room this morning that it never occurred to me to take the camera. I'll fix that tomorrow.
I finished several lavender rice bags, 8 to 10 of them I'd say. Several different types of materials and colors. I also made the cutest toothfairy pillow for a boy. I know, the whole "thoothfairy" thing for a boy sounds odd, but it's totally boy. It's made of a green flannel that has bucks on it and trees. I used black thread to outline the edge of the pillow, I double sew those as well, and the same for the tooth/money pocket. Then I sewed on four buttons in the corners. A log cabin, a pine tree, an oak leaf, and an acorn. Definitely boy and definitely not feminine. I'll post a photo tomorrow.
I didn't work on any gun socks, but I got some lace at the store today so I can make some sachet's. I love to make them. I use white, typically, and put a ribbon on the corner in case you want to hang them on a hanger in your closet. They can go in your dresser drawer as well. I make them in rose, white tulip, lavender, and gardenia. They smell absolutely delicious.
Jourdan and I went though a phase a while back where we were making loads of sachet's but I haven't made any in a while. I thought it was time to do that again, just to break up the whole pillow theme.
And I have one little surprise left. I have the cutest flannel with kitty's on it. The flannel is pink and it has cute cats on it. I have a project in mind for it. I made a lavender rice bag for my sister a while back and she discovered that her cat, Kitty, totally LOVED the heated rice bag. She loved the scent of the lavender, and what cat isn't all over a bag of heated rice? Anyhow, I'd made a bag for Kitty so my sister could heat it up and put it on her kitty bag.....until, I was shopping on Ebay last night and found my favorite store sells dried catnip. So, along with some other supplies I ordered a bag of catnip to put in Kitty's rice bag instead of the lavender. She goes crazy for catnip, so I know she's going to love the kitty rice bag. I'll let you know how it goes when I give it to her. I even squeezed in a Dora pillow for Sami today. When I was fabric shopping she discovered some Dora material and had to have a pillow. She's sleeping blissfully on her 1/2 yard Dora pillow and loving it!
Until next time, thanks for stopping by. Check in on Sunday for more photo's of whats in the works. I sell the toothfairy pillows for $10.00 and the lavender rice bags vary from $5 to $10 depending on the size. I don't typically measure them because I want a variety of sizes.
Some people want them to fit all the way across their neck and some just want a small one, the size of a large recipe card. It's perfect for a tension headache! It's also great for a little one who has an earache. Did you know that when you have an earache, just changing the temperature of the ear canal below your ear can alleviate the pain? A nice little nugget my family doctor told me. She actual told me to use a washcloth damp with hot water. The rice bag is perfect because it's a moist heat and lavender is knows for it's healing and relaxing powers. Just a thought.

Welcome
Welcome to my brand new craft page. I've put my very first picture here for everyone to get a little look at what I create. As you can see, I make toothfairy pillows. The little pink toothfairy in the center of the pillow is a pocket. Your child can place his or her tooth inside the pocket and leave it for the toothfairy. She will of course, take the tooth and leave a surprise in the pocket for your child.
I have several different varieties of this pink toothfairy pillow. The lace varies from one pillow to another, or maybe the placement of the "fairy" but all these pillows are the same size...about 10 in. X 10 in. Your child will love having her own toothfairy pillow for when she loses those precious baby teeth.
I have other crafts that I will be posting on my new blog. I spent the morning making lavender rice bags. If you've never experienced a fresh out of the microwave lavender rice bag, you're in for a real treat. A moist heat that relieves stress and helps you relax after a long day. You can also keep your lavender rice bag in a plain ziploc and place it in the freezer for a nice cool treat after a long hot day. Summer is just around the corner. I'll get to those later when I post photo's.
Thanks for stopping by on my maiden voyage! I hope you'll stop back often, and don't forget that I love to hear from customers and will be happy to help you out with any special orders. My toothfairy pillows sell for $10.00. Contact me if you need to have them sent through the mail!
Have a wonderful day!!!
